Miller Electric Co.

Since 1929 Miller Electric has been steadily growing in the welding and cutting equipment field. What started out as a one-man operation that sold products in Wisconsin is now the largest maker of cutting and arc welding equipment in the world. Miller Electric has always made it a priority to sell only the highest quality and reliable equipment. They specialize in serving the customer as they consider the customer to be their number one priority.

Miller Electric got its start in 1929 when Niels Miller recognized the need for something to replace the huge and bulky three-phase motor generators that were required at that time to do arc welding.  With the availability of these generators being extremely limited many rural blacksmiths still used hammer and forge. Niels felt that there was a need for a smaller and more affordable arc welder, able to operate on readily available electric power. This led to the birth of his first AC welder.

During the early forties government defense projects and large lend-lease contracts picked up every bit of output from the Miller Electric Mfg. Company. This was an extremely challenging time for the entire country. The Miller plant worked nearly around the clock, with three shifts working 60 hours a week. It was during this time that women became a common sight in factories. “Wilma the Welder” was Miller Electric’s version of “Rosie the Riveter.”

As the world of manufacturing advanced many new standards were created. These standards were key in ensuring products were made to exacting regulations. Miller Electric Mfg. Co. was the very first manufacturer of welding equipment in the United States to comply with the most exacting of these standards, the ISO 9001:2000. This first standard fulfilled customer requirements and also achieved maximum customer satisfaction.

Miller Electric Mfg. Co. has been on the forefront of welding manufacturing for decades. Miller has built its reputation on providing high quality welding equipment at reasonable prices while ensuring that customer satisfaction remains high.
